Accountability Team
The Accountability Team is comprised of our Human Resources 2 Coordinator and three other people who are elected annually by the Board of Directors. This team used to be called the Discipline Team, but we decided to change that title to the Accountability Team in 2009. Our HRC2 at the time didn't want to be seen as a cop who's going around trying to catch people doing things wrong and then punish them for it. Instead, she preferred to see herself as a counselor, trying to help people work out their differences and come to a way of working together that supports everyone's needs. We stress using open communication as much as possible before writing up a grievance that will come before the Accountability Team. But when things do go to them, they try to be fair and understanding. Our HRC2 has been grateful to have been trained in mediation through the Athens Mediation Service, and is grateful to have a team that helps her understand all sides of a situation and come to a fair decision.
