In early 1990 Mac's Thrifty store decided to close its location at 8 West State Street and open a new location on East State Street, giving Casa Nueva an opportunity to expand. The large mirror that used to hang in Mac's Thirfty still hangs on our brick wall as a tribute to this historic local business.
After already acquiring a liquor license for the resturant, the proposal for the addition of a Cantina seemed the next reasonable step in our commitment to growth. The Cantina was opened in 1994 as a full-service bar and community space which has seen steady growth in sales ever since.
The Cantina continued to expand in 2004 when the former Low Key Clothing and Gifts closed and allowed us more space for live shows and dance nights, as well as more community involvement. It also offered a casual eating space for the Bodega, which was also added at the time of this expansion.
