What the difference between a bartender or a mixologist?  A bartender is someone who works behind the bar and simply gets you a drink.  A mixologist is someone who assumes the craft of mixing cocktails to perfection.  They develop recipes and strategies for serving the drink and ensure its consistency.  Mixologists educate themselves in the art and science of mixing a great cocktail.  They don't just get you a drink.

We have a four simple rules that we try to follow:

Firstly, we offer you the finest ingredients possible.  We make our own simple syrup.  Our asparagas garnish in our famous bloody marys is local and jarred by our production team.  All our fruit is hand cut.  Our locally known house infusions are carefully tended to and when possible we use local herbs, fruits and spices.

Secondly, we try to be precise by knowing how the drink looks in the glass and measuring each ingredient instead of just pouring things together.  We know the differnce between a great drink and one that is okay.

Thirdly, Customer service.  We strive to offer our customers top level service.  Knowing our clients by name and how they like their drinks served.  Often times we simply create a drink with which we attach that customer's name.

Fourth, Cleanliness.  We have a beautiful establishment with large windows that look out onto West State Street.  We strive to have the cleanest bathrooms, tabletops, and floors.  Our bartenders keep our ingredients well stocked and organized and maintain a high level of cleanliness.

We recognize that there is a tremendous amount of skill in being a good bartender and we try to encourage our staff and give them recognition for a job well done.  In addition, we support them by offering workshops and on-going training.  Our barstaff have attended workshops offered by the Ohio State Liquor Control Agency, monthly bar workshops, mixology training and customer service workshops.  We also have a Cantina committee who are continually looking for new ways to improve our customer service and drink offerings.
